We wanted to take a moment and write a personal note to you on the question of Who is Jesus?
To begin with Scripture (which is divinely inspired, inerrant [incapable of being wrong] and infallible [incapable of making mistakes] throughout) is the correct place in searching all things of God (because all of Scripture is factually true and it is the supreme authority in everything it teaches, not limited to spiritual, religious, or redemptive themes, but includes its assertions in such fields as history and science). On this basis, we also must recognize that Jesus is the Word made flesh (He is also described as "the image of God" and "the exact representation of God"). In this, let's take a look at the Gospel in it's most basic form, as found in I Corinthians 15:3-4, which proclaims:"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"
We see throughout Scripture that Christ has the fullness of Deity (see, Colossians 2:9; John 1:1; Titus 2:23). So what does this Deity of Christ mean? It means that Jesus Christ is God, He is "Mighty God, the Everlasting Father"; "Emmanuel" (meaning, "God with us"); "The Lord (Jehovah) our Righteousness"; "God"; "Son of God." He also shares characteristics with the Father and the Holy Spirit, including but not limited to, being eternal (uncreated and lasting forever), omnipresent (present everywhere at the same time), omniscient (knowing everything), omnipotent (unlimited in power and ability), and immutable (unchanging over time, unable to be changed). Jesus Christ eternally co-exists with and is completely co-equal to God the Father and the Holy Spirit, and these Three Persons make up the Triune God (the one God who is three persons in perfect love and unity, who each fully posses all of the attributes of Deity).
With this in mind, let's touch on a few important topics regarding life, and light, and love.
First, life, the human race and all of creation was created about 6,000 years ago, in six literal days, directly by God (who is perfect and loving and just; He made us in His image), then we were separated from God due to both the literal fall into literal sin of Adam and Eve (who were literally the first two people on the Earth) and also by our own personal sin- all of mankind are sinners, inherently from Adam (because we are all related, part of the same human family bloodline) and individually (by choice), each of us are therefore separated from God and subject to God’s wrath and condemnation- this is the basis for the necessity of salvation. Sin brought about depravity, destruction, and death in every created thing, including each and every one of us.
None of us can escape this curse, as it plagues all of humanity and every part of creation- freedom from the penalty and power of sin is available to man (on an individual basis) only through the sacrificial death and shed blood of Jesus Christ and His complete and bodily resurrection from the dead. For this sin, every single person and all things that abound on Earth deserve punishment- for us who have eternal souls, that means physical and spiritual death which leads to everlasting conscious punishment in Hell. Sin is an infinite offense against an infinitely holy God that requires infinite justice.
However, there is Good News!
So now, let's look at light, Jesus, the begotten son of God, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born [with a sinless nature] of the virgin Mary, He lived a perfect and sinless life as true God and true man, then at the appointed time He paid the penalty for our sin in full (this is known as penal substitutionary atonement: the fact that Jesus sacrificially died a sinner's death as our substitute, paid the rightful penalty that we deserved, and atoned for our sins, in accordance with the Scriptures). God set all of history into motion for this singular purpose.
And Jesus laid down his life out of love almost 2,000 years ago, so that we might be graciously granted repentance and faith to believe which leads us to be saved from our sin and the punishment we rightfully deserve. This benevolent act was done on our behalf for the glory of God, that we might enjoy Him forever; for Jesus Christ has risen from the grave and now sits at the right hand of God the Father, from which He freely invites us into His family by sending the Holy Spirit to dwell [live and abide] within us. You can be justified today, sanctified every day, and glorified one day, new life with God can start now and will last for eternity!
If you would like to enjoy eternal life with God forever, we encourage you to contact us and we can assist you in finding a local church that can help you.
Sincerely in Christ, The Creation Trail Team
